The observation services method still applies for Stage 2 of meaningful use. In the Stage 2 final rule at 77 FR 53984 we outline the two methods for eligible hospitals to complete a patient volume calculation and observation services method is one of them: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-09-04/pdf/2012-21050.pdf

    • The impact of Stage 1 measure reporting to the the changes made for Stage 2 reporting

I understand that the Observation Stratification is being removed for Stage 2 reporting. I am looking to verify whether or not that would also change for the new reports that are being created for those organizations that are beginning attesting for Stage 1. The reason I am asking is that our vendor has changed the reports and has removed Observation patients from showing in the dashboard.
