Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS69v10: Preventive Care and Screening: Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening and Follow-Up Plan. Per the current measure specification, a follow-up plan must be documented on the day of or within 12 months after the most recent BMI. In scenario 1, the numerator will be met as both the most recent BMI and follow-up plan occur on the same date. In scenario 2, the numerator will not be met as the follow-up plan would occur outside of the 12-month performance period (January 1 - December 31, 2022). For additional details related to reporting MIPS measures, please visit the QPP website (https://qpp.cms.gov/) and review Reporting Options found under the MIPS tab.

In December 2021 CMS announced suppression of CMS69v9: https://qpp-cm-prod-content.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/1732/2021%20MIPS%20Quality%20Measure%20Suppression.pdf
The measure suppression is due to a misalignment between the numerator logic and the numerator as described in the measure header. A Known Issue, posted in November 2021 provides additional details related to this misalignment present in both CMS69v9 and CMS69v10: https://oncprojectracking.healthit.gov/support/browse/EKI-13
CMS has published guidance to support CMS69v10 measure implementation for 2022: https://ecqi.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/CMS69v10_BMI_Measure_Guidance.pdf

      Hello Team,

We had a query regarding CMS69v10 2022. It's regarding numerator clause, having quality action of follow-up plan on or before 12months the most recent BMI and with reference to issue 2 in this document (link) from CMS for CMS69, which entails that- “In v9 and v10, the numerator states that a documented follow-up plan on the day of or within 12 months after the latest BMI now meets the performance criteria. Due to this change in the CQL, the timing for documenting this quality action (the follow-up plan) might in some cases extend beyond the end of the measurement period. Submitters may submit data for reporting per the defined time-period except when the quality action takes place after the end of the current measurement period.” Our Query - Since we receive comprehensive data and may get data for cases in which the numerator action of follow-up can get extended up to the next measurement period, please suggest if you want us to exclude these cases from denominator calculation or put them in not met for the numerator.

Please find below-enlisted scenarios that we can encounter and let us know your inputs on them:

      Scenario 1)

      Most recent BMI:05 May 2022

      Followup plan: 05 May 2022

Please specify if the numerator will be - met or not met or exclude from the calculation?

      Scenario 2)

      Most recent BMI:05 May 2022

      Followup plan: 12 Feb 2023

Please specify if the numerator will be - met or not met or exclude from the calculation?
