However, the algorithm designates the Inpatient Encounter Value Set 2.16.840.1.113883 .3.117.1.7.1.23, which includes other admission types that would not be considered elective. With this guidance, a patient who is admitted emergently and also has a carotid intervention would be erroneously excluded from the stroke measures.
