The QRDA R3.1 specifications outline a different language value set from last year - 2.16.840.1.113883.1.11.11526. The Library of Congress list that the specs reference has two columns of language codes. Based on the sample list in Table 5, it appears that we are to use the ISO 639-1 (alpha-2) code unless it is not available for a given language, in which case we use the ISO 639-2 (alpha-3) code. For example, English is "en".
In last year's (version R3) language value set (2.16.840.1.113883.11.20.9.64), the sample list in Table 14 appears to use the ISO 639-2 (alpha-3) code, but only if there is a corresponding entry in the ISO 639-1 (alpha-2) set. English would be "eng" in that set.
I cannot find the full list of codes anywhere. The 2.16.840.1.113883.1.11.11526 value set is not in VSAC, and PHIN VADS has been down for extended maintenance.
If our interpretation of the allowable codes is correct, it means that our customers will need to re-map all of the language codes from alpha-3 to alpha-2. We would like a full list of the codes if possible, or even just a verification that our interpretation is correct. Thank you.
