We will evaluate value sets as part of the annual update process and any changes will be made at that time. The value set in question was updated during the annual update according to feedback from NLM and the steward's own interpretation of the appropriate codes. It will be reviewed again in 2014.

Impact:
Cumbersome to maintain so many distinct sets representing the same concept. Confusing for our end-users.

The 2011 NQF 0059 spec has the following LOINC codes for A1c:

17856-6, 4548-4, 4549-2

The 2014 NQF 0059 spec has the following LOINC codes for A1c:

17855-8, 17856-6, 4548-4
