      Hello,
At our hospital, we care for patients in our acute care units who are admitted under the General Inpatient (GIP) Hospice level of care. Although these patients are assigned an inpatient admission class, their designated level of care is hospice. We have noticed that when a pressure injury develops during the hospital stay, these patients are still being included in the HH‑PI measure denominator.

Our understanding is that the intent of this measure—as well as other eCQMs within the IQR/IPPS programs—is to exclude patients receiving hospice services. While we do not have a dedicated hospice unit, we do provide GIP hospice services within our acute care setting.
Given this structure, should General Inpatient Hospice patients be excluded from the HH‑PI measure?
