Is the eCQM measuring a ratio of hyperglycemic days of total hospital days or a ratio of patient fall outs? In the specifications of the measure, it seems that in the "Guidance" section, it is referencing patient fall outs by encounter, however in the "Description" it states this is a ratio of hyperglycemic days per total qualifying hospital days. a) Per "Guidance" in the specifications: The numerator returns the first eligible encounter that meets the qualifying criteria: an inpatient hospitalization with a hyperglycemic event. Only one numerator is counted per encounter. Note that the numerator returns the encounters, not days, that meet the criteria. This eCQM is an episode based measure. And episode is defined as each inpatient hospitalization or encounter that ends during the measurement period. b) Per "Description" in the specifications: This measure assess the number of inpatient hospital days for patients age 18 and older with a hyperglycemic event (harm) per the total qualifying inpatient hospital days for the encounter.
