Thank you for your inquiry specific to CMS832v3, Hospital Harm - Acute Kidney Injury. This eCQM uses the "Creatinine Mass Per Volume" value set (OID: 2.16.840.1.113762.1.4.1248.21) to identify laboratory tests measuring creatinine reported as mass per volume, expressed as milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). For purposes of reporting this eCQM, one of three LOINC codes found within the “Creatinine Mass Per Volume” value set must be documented. However, equivalent services may be mapped to the value set codes, if the result is captured and recorded as a creatinine mass/volume result. Please note that not all complete metabolic panels (CMPs) calculate the creatinine this way. A CMP typically includes a creatinine result along with other laboratory tests; however, for this eCQM, the creatinine result itself must be mapped to a LOINC code included in the “Creatinine Mass Per Volume” value set and reported in mg/dL. We are unable to provide specific guidance related to the mapping of codes and further recommend you consult with your EHR vendor and clinical parters. If mapping is conducted, you should maintain documentation in case of a CMS audit. More information about the "Creatinine Mass Per Volume" value set is available from the Value Set Authority Cener (VSAC) (https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/).

In addition to Creatinine test, should we reference lab tests that contain a Creatinine result such as Complete Metabolic Panel?
