Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS165v14 (Controlling High Blood Pressure). This measure CMS165 is based on the HEDIS health plan measure which evaluates the most recent blood pressure reading in the patient’s record. The focus on the most recent reading is meant to minimize data collection burden and provide clear direction for measure users. NCQA is evaluating the potential for developing a new blood pressure measure where the numerator might evaluate multiple readings over time, an average, and/or a lower threshold of <130/80; however, the measure currently included in the MIPS program will remain focused on measuring the most recent blood pressure reading.

For the controlling High Blood pressure measure is consideration being taken to use average blood pressure readings versus the last blood pressure reading to indicate control in future reporting years aligning with the new acc/aha 2025 blood pressure guidelines?
