Measure CMS147 (NQF 0041) is intended to promote annual influenza vaccination for all patients aged 6 months and older, thereby reducing the likelihood of patients contracting the disease and associated morbidity and mortality. As the CDC statement included below emphasizes, vaccination to prevent influenza is particularly important for high risk patients for persons who are at increased risk for severe complications from influenza – those who are pregnant during the flu season, those with complicated co-morbid conditions, etc. The CDC recommends prioritizing patients that are immunosuppressed (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus) in times where vaccine availability is limited. Visit the following link http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/whoshouldvax.htm .

For measure CMS117 (NQF 0038), we are evaluating the HIV exclusion for the influenza vaccine. Any updates will be made during the annual update process.

      Hello,

Childhood Immunizations (NQF 0038) includes HIV as an exception for the flu vaccine (technically it's not an exception in the sense of reporting requirements, but it allows you to qualify without actually receiving the vaccine). The Influenza Immunization measure (NQF 0041) does not have HIV as exception criteria. Is there a reason these aren't the same?

      Thanks!
