Thank you for your question for CMS190v13/VTE-2, Intensive Care Unit Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis. Per the measure specification, Eliquis, as an Oral Xa Factor Inhibitor, only qualify an encounter for the numerator if the patient has a past or present diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation or VTE, or a past or present hip or knee replacement. If Eliquis was given without atrial fibrillation/VTE or hip or knee surgery, the patient will not meet the numerator.

For CMS 108v13 and CMS190v13, can Eliquis be given to satisfy the VTE measure specification without a patient having a history or currently in afib/flutter?
