The purpose of this procedure is to eliminate the need for anticoagulation since the atrial fibrillation is being corrected. Therefore, an exception needs to be added for patients who undergo this procedure and have it on their medical/surgical history
Adding the exception reduces the burden on the provider of unnecessary documentation as they would not consider anticoagulation in the setting of treating a patient with a history of atrial fibrillation with a watchman device implanted. But because the patient once had a history of atrial fibrillation, it does not exclude patient and the measure fails if the provider does not document an Anticoagulation Declination.
