Thank you for your question about CMS334/PC-02 Cesarean Birth. A compound presentation is one in which the leading fetal part, including a fetal extremity, is alongside a cephalic or breech part. These are also referred to at times as malpresentation codes. Some compound presentation codes are included in the value set, such as O64.8x, which is applicable for footling and incomplete breech. Often times, hand presentations deliver vaginally and/or can be manipulated. The codes contained within the value set have been approved by a panel of experts, and value sets are reviewed each year.

    • This has a big impact because our patients are not being recognized as having an abnormal presentation to fall into the correct numerator/denominator for the measure.

In value set Abnormal Presentation (2.16.840.1.113762.1.4.1045.105), there are no codes to represent the abnormal presentations of Compound, Hand, or Other.

Is there a way to get SNOMED codes for these abnormal presentations created and added to the value set? We are not sure what to do for these presentations.
