Difficulty walking could be applied to most of the encounters as a majority of the STEMI population is older which is inaccurately excluding patients.
Per specifications, the exclusion for severe neurologic impairment includes "difficulty in walking not elsewhere classified".
We have a completely alert and oriented patient that has been excluded from the denominator secondary to neurologic impairment (related to an ICD 10 code: Difficulty in walking, not elsewhere classified). This does not equate to a severe neurologic impairment. The SNOMEDCT and ICD10 coding in this measure set does not truly reflect severe neurologic disorders/diagnoses of the central nervous system such as: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Huntington’s disease, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, CVA. Difficulty walking could be applied to most of the encounters as a majority of the STEMI population is older.
Test preserved from the Solution field: "Re-evaluate "difficulty in walking not elsewhere classified" from being included in the exclusion value set. "
