Hello and thank you for the inquiry.

We recommend that you work with your revenue cycle and IT teams to confirm that these cases are being appropriately handled.

When a patient’s class is restatused from inpatient to observation, if the case is determined to be an accurate revision of the inpatient status, it should be excluded or filtered out in QRDA I submissions. For the purposes of reporting inpatient eCQMs, only true inpatient admissions should be included.

We hope this helps, please let us know if you have any follow up questions.

    • OBS Status

Patient came in through the ED at 1412 on 1/1/25 and were admitted to Inpatient at 1642 and then changed to Observation at 1803 and continued to be an Observation until discharge on 1/2/25.

Since they remained in OBS do they qualify for IPP and denominator for HH-Hyperglycemia?
