All-inclusive x-ray study is unnecessarily burdensome

XMLWordPrintable

    • Thank you for the feedback. We continue to strive to make capturing and reporting data less burdensome for providers and vendors. We will investigate using this method for the next annual update.
    • Very high burden on participating organizations

The Diagnostic Study, Order: X-Ray Study (all inclusive) data element is very burdensome because it requires EP's to individually list all possible qualifying orders into a grouper record and then run a very long (in computer terms) search to check each xray ordered on the patient against each of the possible matches. Instead, the method attribute of the diagnostic study data element should be used to indicate that the study is done by whatever qualifying modalities are need, plain film, CT, MRI, etc. Then the setup would be simple and the report would run much faster, with no sacrfice of the essential data needed, that the patient was excluded because of a radiological procedure.
