    • Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS122v13 (2025 Performance Period). At this time, this measure is not specified to capture and exclude patients who are deceased. We will consider this exclusion for a future iteration of this measure.

Are deceased patients included in the initial population for CMS-122?  The latest specifications (V13) list hospice/nursing home/palliative/frailty as exclusions but does not provide guidance on deceased patients.  Is there rationale for deceased patients being included? Patients who expire during the measurement period are not qualified for the sample for the CWI Diabetes measure. However, for the CMS-122 eCQM, they seem to be included. We think it should be the same, or close to the same, criteria. Can you provide some clarification or reasoning behind including deceased patients?
