Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS996: Appropriate Treatment for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Patients in the Emergency Department (ED). We understand the intent of your inquiry is to recommend removal of the ICD-10-CM code D17.9 - Benign lipomatous neoplasm, unspecified from the Cerebral Vascular Lesion value set (OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.3.3157.4025). CMS and the measure developer can consider updates to the Cerebral Vascular Lesion value set in a future annual update.

    • Case is being excluded from the CMS996v5 due to incorrect ICD10 code in OID value set

ICD 10 code D17.9 for Benign lipomatous neoplasm, unspecified, seems to be included in valueset with Oid 2.16.840.1.113883.3.3157.4025, which is supposed to include "Cerebral Vascular Lesion" diagnosis. This D17.9 diagnosis code is unrelated to a cerebral vascular lesion, but is causing a case to be excluded from this outpatient STEMI measure.
