Increased rate as a result of not being excluded from measure
We had a patient in labor that had a primary Cesarean section due to suspected genital herpes lesions . Testing was done at the time of discovery. Test results came back after delivery and were negative for HSV therefore no ICD10 code for Herpes was applied. Is this scenario an acceptable exclusion for NTSV? If so, is there any suggestion on how to capture this electronically to prevent patient being in the numerator? Would capturing by snomed code be the best route since ICD10 is not an option?
