Thank you for your inquiry on the Preventive Care and Screening: Screening for Depression and Follow-Up Plan eCQM. To clarify our statements on CQM-7209: if two depression screens have simultaneous timestamps for completion with differing results, and thus both are the most recent, then the positive result should be used to assess measure compliance (the positive screen serves as the temporal “tiebreaker”). If the positive result has a timely documented follow-up, then it would meet the numerator. However, if it does not, then it would not meet the numerator, and would represent an opportunity for improvement.

    • Which will meet the measure?

This is a follow up question about the solution on

      1. CQM-7209

We have several customers who send us Positive and Negative screenings on the same date with the same time as well. Understanding that they should be different, we are unable to change the data. In CQM-7209 is was stated "The measure only requires the most recent, and since both are most recent, the intent is that if the most recent includes both a negative and positive screening, the patient is only in the numerator if the positive result also includes documentation of an intervention following the positive screen. We will include this as a clarification in a future logic update for the measure specification."

Am I correct in understanding that if the Positive Screening has the follow up then the patient meets the Numerator, but if the follow up is not present, the patient would still meet the Numerator based on having a Negative screening at the same date/time? OR if both positive and negative are present, tie breaker always goes to the positive screening and patient meets based on appropriate follow up being performed?
