Assuming that the patient described in your question is 18 or older and their hospitalization ends during the measurement period, the patient’s inpatient hospitalization would meet the measure’s initial population and denominator criteria, as the inpatient hospitalization has the presence of a glucose value >=200 mg/dL during the encounter (on day 25 of the hospitalization). Unlike the measure’s numerator criteria and two measure observations, the measure’s initial population criteria is not restricted to the first 10 days of a hospitalization.
