Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS1074v2, Excessive Radiation Dose or Inadequate Image Quality for Diagnostic Computed Tomography (CT) in Adults (Facility IQR). Based on what you’ve described, the data required to report on the measure exists in the Inpatient EMR. The measure logic itself selects for inpatient and outpatient populations as long as those encounters are appropriately recorded in the inpatient EMR. With the information provided here, we don’t see a reason to copy those results into the outpatient EMR.

    • Significant hardship to enable both inpatient and outpatient EMRs to be connected to a third party to meet ExRad ecqm requirements.

Good afternoon, I am inquiring about the ExRad eCQMs for HIQR and HOQR and am wondering if we need to connect intermediary software with both our Inpatient and Outpatient EMRs. All of our HIQR and HOQR reporting comes from our Inpatient EMR and its associated reporting platform that we configure eCQMs and generate QRDA files for submission to CMS. This inpatient EMR is where all radiology results will file into as its interface with our Imaging software. This would include an inpatient based service as well as outpatient-based service as all encounters also file into our Inpatient based EMR. If we are able to do this do we need to also connect intermediary software to our Outpatient EMR which incidentally currently we do not file all of these encounters for imaging services in our outpatient EMR and to do so would be a significant undertaking.
