Thank you for your question regarding CMS506v7 Safe Use of Opioids - Concurrent Prescribing. We will consider adding ICD-10 code F11.90 to the Opioid Use Disorder value set (OID 2.16.840.1.113762.1.4.1111.171) value set or the Methadone 5mg/5ml solution to the "Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)" (OID 2.16.840.1.113762.1.4.1046.269) value set during the next Annual Update.

Our EMR POC is telling us that F11.90 which is Opioid Use Disorder does not exclude the patient. They are prescribed Methadone 5mg/5ml but because that is not listed in the list, they are saying it doesn't count. Why does 5mg oral tablet exclude the patient and even 10mg/ml solution but if they are prescribed 5mg/5ml solution, that doesn't count? The intent is to capture patients with OUD (this patient was coded F11.90) and those taking medications such as Methadone (this patient was). Can you please explain why this patient wouldn't be excluded? The methadone formulary list should be expanded to include all dosage/routes. There is no other reason a patient would be prescribed methadone other than OUD.
