      Thank you for your inquiry. You are correct. A measure update occurred in CMS2v13: Preventive Care and Screening: Screening for Depression and Follow-Up Plan which removed the depression diagnosis exclusion from the measure based on recommendations from clinical experts. CMS2v13 and the current CMS2v14 now only excludes patients who have ever had a bipolar disorder diagnosis prior to the qualifying encounter.

      It appears as though the language for exclusions for depression screening has changed 2023 - 2025. Please verify who is excluded from the denominator- those with a prior diagnosis of bipolar only, or of depression and bipolar?
