Thank you for your inquiry about CMS1028 Severe Obstetric Complications. The measure includes logic that will exclude a patient with a planned hysterectomy with a diagnosis of placenta percreta or placenta increta. Placenta accreta is not included in the numerator exclusions. Per the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP), all cases of placenta accreta does not require a hysterectomy, and reproductive justice or preservation should be considered.

Can you also share if placenta accreta is an exclusion for the numerator  CY 2025 for  planned hysterectomy  for CMS 1028? In the early part of CY 2024 I asked this question and it was response was it was being considered as an exclusion but I do not see it listed with the other exclusions?
