The eligible population for the measure will change depending on if only the most recent ASCVD risk score should be used or any ASCVD risk score during the measurement period should be used.
For the Statin Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease CMS347v8 would the below fake example result in the patient being included in the measure due to the Population 4 criteria?
Please assume the patient meets the age criteria, has an eligible encounter during the measurement period, does not meet any exception criteria or exclusion criteria, and does not meet any of the other population criteria for the measure.
The population 4 criteria is: "4: Patients aged 40 to 75 at the beginning of the measurement period with a 10-year ASCVD risk score of > = 20 percent during the measurement period."
Scenario: A patient has 3 qualify encounters during the measurement period. After the 1st encounter their ASCVD risk score is 18%. After the 2nd encounter their ASCVD risk score is 21%. After their 3rd and final encounter during the measurement period their ASCVD risk score is 19%.
Should the most recent ASCVD risk score of 19% be used, or will any score equal to or greater than 20% during the measurement period cause them to be eligible?
Thank you for your time!
