VSAC Version to Use for eCQMs

      Thank you for your question regarding the correct value sets to use for the 2025 reporting period. For the 2025 reporting period of the Eligible Hospital electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs), the correct expansion version for the value sets is "eCQM Update 2024-05-02". You can download the code system versions used for each terminology type from the Value Set Authority Center (VSAC): https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/welcome.

      To access 2025 reporting/performance period of eCQM & Hybrid measure value sets, go to the downloads tab, select the performance period you are looking for, and download the excel spreadsheet titled "Code System Versions Currently in eCQM Value Sets". For future and previous updates, the code system version may not be the same as reporting year due to the timing of when measure updates are completed, and the code system publication is released.

    • With each eCQM, I don't know which year's VSAC version to use with which year's eCQM update.

      I want to make sure I understand the correct version of VSAC elements I should use with each year's abstraction. Should I be using eCQM Update 2024-05-02-Code System Version 2024-01 for patients who discharge in 2025? Should I be using eCQM Update 2023-05-04-Code System Version 2023-01 for patients who discharged in 2024? This means the Latest information currently in VSAC titled Code System Version 2025-01 will not be used until patients discharge in 2026. Please let me know if this is correct.
