Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS996: Appropriate Treatment for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Patients in the Emergency Department (ED). Our understanding of this scenario is that a patient arrived at a non-PCI capable facility with a STEMI diagnosis, was transferred to a PCI-capable facility and received the PCI at the receiving facility.

This measure captures the percentage of ED encounters for patients 18 years and older with a diagnosis of STEMI who received appropriate treatment, defined as fibrinolytic therapy within 30 minutes of ED arrival, PCI 90 minutes of ED arrival, or transfer to an Acute Care Facility within 45 minutes of ED arrival. As such, this case would be included in the measure’s denominator for both respective facilities, assuming none of the measure exclusion criteria apply. For the non-PCI capable facility, the transfer would need to be completed with 45 minutes to meet the third numerator criteria, and for the PCI-capable facility, the PCI would need to be completed within 90 minutes of ED arrival.

    • Need to know in 2024 specs if patient transferred to PCI Hospital from non-PCI Hospital with different CCN and whether the arrival time of the patient in ED starts with the original ED at non-PCI Hospital or when patient arrives at ED of the PCI Hospital

Does the arrival time in ED starts with the Non-PCI Hospital or PCI Hospital if the patient is diagnosed with stemi in ED at Non-PCI facility and is thus transferred to PCI Facility.

The Hospitals are two different CCN's so do we have one measure for Non-PCI with Door in/out and another with Door/PCI or are the two encounters just folded merged under one time spectrum
