Thank you for your question regarding CMS104v13 Discharged on Antithrombotic Therapy (STK-2). STK-2 is an inpatient measure that looks for an ["Encounter, Performed": "Non-Elective Inpatient Encounter"] whose relevantPeriod ends during the “Measurement Period” (please see TJC.”Non Elective Inpatient Encounter with Age”). The QDM reference (https://ecqi.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/QDM-v5.6-508.pdf) defines relevantPeriod as administrative start/stop times, i.e. the admission and discharge times.

If the patient was discharged from an “Non-Elective Inpatient Encounter” during the measurement period then it will be considered by STK-2.

    • Does eSTK-2 include observation patients?

Does eSTK-2 include observation patients and inpatient or just inpatient? STK-2 was always an inpatient measure. I had a patient who was admitted as an inpatient and then changed to observation patient that fell into the measure population for some reason. I thought it was only an inpatient measure. I want to be sure before I have an analyst investigate.
