    • Pt double counted in denominator for same STEMI. 1. Rural hospital ED visit and then transfer to 2. Receiving hospital ED . Both hospitals are in the same health care system.

Our facility receives STEMI pts from rural hospitals ED within the same healthcare organization.  I understand that the STEMI pt will be included in rural hospital STEMI ecqm denominator.   The issue we have is when the same STEMI pt is transferred to the regional facility for PCI.  There are times when the pt cannot go directly to the cath lab and is held in ED until cath lab is ready.   Hence for another ED encounter.  This pt is included in the denominator again.  Is this Ok.  We are having difficulty trying to figure out how to eliminate the second ED encounter when pt is not able to go directly to the cath lab and avoiding the ED..
