Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS117v12 (2024 Performance Period). According to the measure steward, the National Committee for Quality Assurance, NCQA’s measures are designed to capture routine immunization care and do not specifically account for catch-up vaccination schedules, as these are considered outside of standard care protocols. The measure aims to reflect the typical immunization schedule recommended for children under 2 years of age, which includes the 4 doses of the PCV vaccine.

    • Affecting the clinical compliance of the measure and reporting issues for UDS

Hi, the childhood Immunization quality measure requires 4 shots of PCV vaccine for compliance. However, according to the CDC guideline for catch up schedule for vaccine, children under 2 years of age can complete the series in 3 shots, this makes the child clinically complaint. The 4th shot is not recommended and hence not given. The UDS manual or measure specification does not mention any criteria or guideline to document this. The question is how do we show these children as compliant on the UDS report for completed childhood immunization with 3 shots of PCV. There should be some exception or specification for CDC catch schedule for all vaccines for kids under 2 years.

Please let know. Thank you !
