Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS819v3, Hospital Harm - Opioid-Related Adverse Events. This measure assesses the number of inpatient hospitalizations for patients age 18 and older who have been administered an opioid medication outside of the operating room and are subsequently administered a non-enteral opioid antagonist outside of the operating room within 12 hours. Any provider that administers opioids or opioid antagonists has the potential to influence this measure. There is no specific type of provider that will influence data for this measure, and we cannot dictate how hospitals allocate staff responsibilities.

I am looking for additional information on which type of providers will primarily influence the data for this measure.

Will these  mostly be post surgical cases with opioid medication administered outside of the operating room or will our hospitalists primarily drive the data?
