Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS996v4, Appropriate Treatment for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Patients in the Emergency Department (ED). Since the measure intends to exclude patients with a need for a mechanical circulatory assist device, repositioning does align with intent. We can confirm that the value set for the “Insertion or Replacement of Mechanical Circulatory Assist Device” exclusion includes a repositioning code. You can see the full list of codes that correspond to this exclusion here: https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/valueset/2.16.840.1.113883.3.3157.4052/expansion/eCQM%20Update%202024-05-02

    • Would like to have correct mapping

We are working on the mappings for the Epic Cupid procedures for "Insertion or Replacement of Mechanical Circulatory Assist Device (2.16.840.1.113883.3.3157.4052)". The are procedure orders for Insertion, removal, and repositioning. Would you consider the "repositioning" counting as insertion or replacement for the sake of the STEMI measure?
