    • Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS122v12 (2024 Performance Period). At this time, this measure is not specified to capture and exclude patients who are deceased. We will consider this exclusion for a future iteration of this measure.

    • Looking for help understanding why deceased patients are not excluded (or removed from the initial patient population) from the diabetes hemoglobin A1c poor control measure.

      To better explain to my clinicians.  Can you help us understand why patients who are deceased are not excluded from the measure.  Why are patients in hospice/palliative care and/or with an advanced illness, during the measurement year excluded, but if a patient passes away without being in hospice/palliative care or diagnosed with an advanced illness they are not excluded?  

       

      Or maybe not excluded, but why are they a part of the initial population to start with if they are deceased?
