For the time being, each measure version is locked to a specific RxNorm (and in fact all code systems) code system version. The measure versions and their corresponding code systems can be found and downloaded in the VSAC for each measure package. At the current time, you may not use other code system versions; however, mapping to the approved code system version is allowed. It is expected that, if audited, the mapping would be found to be clinically appropriate.

In the ONC Stage 2 Final Rule it lists a version of RXNORM codes: "(4) RxNorm, August 6, 2012 Full Release Update, IBR approved for ยง 170.207. Source: 54286 Federal Register / Vol. 77, No. 171 / Tuesday, September 4, 2012 / Rules and Regulations p. 124". Is this the version we must use, or can we update our versions when needed? Also, is it a requirement to use RXNORM codes for reporting? This is new to us and we want to get it right.
