Thank you for your question regarding CMS124v12 (2024 Performance Period) and CMS124v13 (2025 Performance Period). According to the measure steward, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Initial Population/Denominator definition of this measure is looking for female patients identified by the code "Female" ("AdministrativeGender Code (F)"). Missing this information disqualifies patients from the measure.

For any further inquiries about CMS quality program reporting requirements or measure scoring, please contact the QPP Helpdesk at QPP@cms.hhs.gov. For questions about eCQM supplemental data element for sex, please refer to resources on the eCQI resource center such as "Guide for Reading eCQMs" (https://ecqi.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/2025-Guide-for-Reading-eCQMs.pdf#page=19) or "eCQM Logic and Implementation Guidance" (https://ecqi.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/2025-eCQM-Logic-and-Guidance.pdf#page=28).

    • Patient reports showing both need clarification on acceptable response.

Please clarify, on multiple measures, our patient reports have both Birth Sex and Admin Sex as a response in the 'Sex' data field. Is there one response that is acceptable or are both acceptable? Is there a response that should be the primary 'Sex' source? Also, is it acceptable to have a blank (no answer) in the 'Sex" data field on the report?
