Thank you for reaching out. According to the measure steward, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the measure does have specific requirements regarding the types of exams being performed, which include both a “Cup to Disc Ratio Performed with Result” and “Optic Disc Exam Performed with Result.” The Optic Disc Exam is defined as a “Diagnostic Study, Performed: Optic Disc Exam for Structural Abnormalities.”
While there are no specific requirements for the exam result values, other than being “not null”, we recommend consulting our Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma Preferred Practice Pattern (PPP) for guidance on documenting physical examination and diagnostic testing results. You can access it here: Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma PPP https://www.aaojournal.org/article/S0161-6420(20)31024-1/fulltext

For eCQM measure CMS143, we would like to get clarification for Optic Disc Exam Performed with Result criteria. The measure definition states that the result should not be null. Can we get clarification if any non-null result qualifies for numerator or do we need to check for specific result and only count certain result types. In Maddie, any result provided meets the numerator criteria.

If specific result is required can you please specify what would be the acceptable result values.

Measure definition as given in specifications below:

Diagnostic Study, Performed": "Optic Disc Exam for Structural Abnormalities"] OpticDiscExamPerformed
with "Primary Open Angle Glaucoma Encounter" EncounterWithPOAG
          such that Global."NormalizeInterval" ( OpticDiscExamPerformed.relevantDatetime, OpticDiscExamPerformed.relevantPeriod ) during EncounterWithPOAG.relevantPeriod
        where OpticDiscExamPerformed.result is not null
