Thanks for your question regarding the CMS996v4: Appropriate Treatment for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Patients in the Emergency Department (ED) measure.

We can confirm that discharging the patient from the ED to an acute setting within 45 minutes will count towards the numerator as one of the three possible numerator outcomes. In this numerator, a patient will need a disposition plan from the ED and may go on to an acute setting (either on-site or at another setting) to receive other services. This third numerator accounts for patients that may not go through the fibrinolytic or PCI pathway, for various medically indicated reasons.

Numerator "where the patient is transferred within 45 minutes of ED arrival"

If a patient came to ED with active STEMI diagnosis and became an inpatient (at that same hospital) within 45 mins from ED arrival time, will this case qualify as "where the patient is transferred within 45 minutes of ED arrival" if yes, will this case be considered a numerator?

      Thank you for your time.
