      Thank you for your inquiry regarding CMS871v3, Hospital Harm – Severe Hyperglycemia. To identify potential hyperglycemic events, the measure’s logic evaluates results from glucose tests that were performed (i.e., collected not resulted) on an eligible hospital day. In the scenario described in the Jira inquiry, the glucose result would not be evaluated as a potential hyperglycemic event for the purpose of the measure’s calculation. This is because the glucose test was performed (i.e., collected) within the first 24 hours of the hospitalization, which is not considered to be an eligible hospital day.

      I need clarification on a severe hyperglycemia case , patient's first 24 hrs ecounter time starts at 8/3 1136 am and ends at 8/4 1135 am , POC glucose was collected at 8/4 1135 am and resulted at 8/4 1137 am. Do we look at the collected or resulted glucose date/time to determine the hyperglycemic days.
