Thank you for your question regarding CMS506v7 Safe Use of Opioids - Concurrent Prescribing. For these exclusions, Cancer Related Pain diagnosis interval must overlap at least a single day of the inpatient encounter, while Sickle Cell Disease diagnosis must overlap the whole stay. They currently do not follow the same pattern, however we will explore alignment of similar datatypes in a future Annual Update cycle.

FOr the Denominator Exclusions of Cancer Related Pain and Sickle Cell Disease, Cancer Related Pain has "overlaps DAY OF InpatientEncounter.relevantPeriod" whereas Sickle Cell Disease has just "overlaps InpatientEncounter.relevantPeriod." Is this correct or should they have the same look back for relevantPeriod?
