Thank you for your inquiry for CMS124v12 (Cervical Cancer Screening). It is correct that the numerator requires a cervical cytology performed during the measurement period or the two years prior to the measurement period for women 24-64 years of age by the end of the measurement period. The numerator also requires cervical human papillomavirus (HPV) testing performed during the measurement period or the four years prior to the measurement period for women who are 30 years or older at the time of the test. The current measurement period is from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. Based on this timeframe, the lookback period for the 'Pap Test' would be January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024 (3 years lookback) and the lookback period for the 'HPV Test' would be January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2024 (5 years lookback).

The specification Numerator for 124 Cervical Cancer Screening states the following:

Women with one or more screenings for cervical cancer. Appropriate screenings are defined by any one of the following criteria: - Cervical cytology performed during the measurement period or the two years prior to the measurement period for women 24-64 years of age by the end of the measurement period - Cervical human papillomavirus (HPV) testing performed during the measurement period or the four years prior to the measurement period for women who are 30 years or older at the time of the test

There is some discussion that it can be a rolling calendar from the date of the last test instead of calculating dates using only fixed calendar years.  I'd like to confirm the current "measurement period" is considered 01/01/2024 - 12/31/2024 with a PAP test two year lookback period back to 01/01/2022 and the HPV four year lookback period dates back to 01/01/2020.

      Thank you
