Thank you for your inquiry about CMS153v12, Chlamydia Screening in Women. https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/
The "Chlamydia Screening" value set was updated to remove certain values for tests that lacked specificity for the specimen, including LOINC Code 43406-8, where the sample type (specimen) is unspecified. The value set now contains tests for which the sample type is specified, and meets the intent of the measure. Clinically equivalent services may be mapped to the codes used in a measure's value sets to satisfy a value set requirement. For example, LOINC code 43406-8 which is defined as "Chlamydia trachomatis+Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA [Presence] in Specimen by Probe with signal amplification" could be mapped to another code within the "Chlamydia Screening" OID (2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.110.12.1052). You can reference the applicable codes containing these value sets on the Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) at https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/. Click on the “Search Value Sets” tab and enter the value set ID to review codes included in the respective value set. If mapping is done, documentation should be retained in case of a CMS audit.

    • CMS0153v13

It was brought to our attention that these two Chlamydia Screening LOINC codes below, which were removed from the 2024 valueset, has been added back to the 2025 CMS153v13 Chlamydia Screening (2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.110.12.1052) valueset.

      • 21613-5 (Chlamydia trachomatis DNA [Presence] in Specimen by NAA with probe detection)
      • 43304-5 (Chlamydia trachomatis rRNA [Presence] in Specimen by NAA with probe detection)

However,  LOINC code 43406-8 (Chlamydia trachomatis+Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA [Presence] in Specimen by Probe with signal amplification) remains inactive for 2025. Was this an oversight? Is there a specific reason that 43406-8 was not added back to the 2025 Chlamydia Screening (2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.110.12.1052) valueset?  Thank you!
