Thank you for your question. In the current QDM, the datatype “Device, Applied” can only use the attributes “start datetime” and “removal datetime”. It does not have an attribute of “end datetime” to indicate an end time of the application of the device.

The following actions will be taken regarding this issue:
      • The potential need for an attribute of “end datetime” for the datatype “Device, applied” will be reviewed and forwarded to the QDM User Group for further discussion as to whether this is necessary in the context of clinical quality measurement.
      • The logic will be reviewed for the best approach using the current datatype attributes to represent the exclusion of other surgeries where devices are applied occurring within 4 days after the principal procedure.
Once the best representation of the logic is determined, the changes will be made during the next scheduled EH measure update.

in the denominator Exclusions for SCIPInf1 and SCIPInf2:

■OR: "Device, Applied: Hospital measures-Pacemaker or implantable defibrillator device" <= 4 day(s) starts after end of "Occurrence A of Procedure, Performed: Hospital measures-CABG"
■OR: "Device, Applied: Hospital measures-Pacemaker or implantable defibrillator device" <= 4 day(s) ends before start of "Occurrence A of Procedure, Performed: Hospital measures-CABG"

According to the QDM, the Device, Applied does not have an End DateTime (also discussed in CQM-693) since it does not have an End DateTime, you can't look for it ending before the start of something.
