Thank you for your inquiry about CMS153v12: Chlamydia Screening in Women. Value sets and codes for 2024 eCQM reporting once finalized cannot be amended. The "Chlamydia Screening" value set was updated to remove tests, including LOINC Code 43406-8, where the sample type (specimen) is unspecified. The value set now contains tests for which the sample is specified, and the sample meets the intent of the measure. Clinically equivalent services may be mapped to the codes used in a measure's value sets to satisfy a value set requirement. For example, LOINC code 43406-8 which is defined as "Chlamydia trachomatis+Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA [Presence] in Specimen by Probe with signal amplification" could be mapped to another code in the "Chlamydia Screening" (2.16.840.1.113883.3.464.1003.110.12.1052) value set. If mapping is done, documentation should be retained in case of a CMS audit.

    • Chlamydia screening compliance has dropped to essentially 0%.

Our organization recently noticed that LOINC 43406-8 is no longer accepted per the CMS 2024 Value Set. The removal of this code has caused a significant decrease in our Chlamydia Screening compliance rate. Was this overlooked or is there a specific reason this code was removed since the test looks for a positive or negative result?
