We voluntarily submitted 1Q23 STEMI eCQMs. After looking at the HQR Outcomes page, we didn't understand the "episode" part of the scoring. Can you help us understand the following?

1) In the measure definition, CMS states we are looking at ED Encounters. On the CMS portal, we are seeing the term Episodes used. What is the definition of an Episode?
2) What is the difference between an encounter and an episode?
3) Why are there multiple episodes within one encounter? We do not appear to be including any information on episodes in our files.
4) How is each episode within an encounter determined? We do not appear to be including any information on episodes in our files.

Any additional information would be very much appreciated.
