Thank you for your inquiry on CMS108v12 (Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis). You can use the Intermittent Pneumatic Compression device that placed during the first hospital visit ( 1/29/24 at 9:00 AM) to meet the Numerator condition of "Encounter with VTE Prophylaxis Received From Day of Start of Hospitalization To Day After Admission or Procedure" for the second hospital admission with patient arrival 1/29/24 at 8:00 PM.

    • We are not sure if our EHR is pulling the numerator correctly for VTE-1.

Hello, We have a patient who had day surgery on 1/29/24. During the episode of care for day surgery, the patient had Intermittent Pneumatic Compression devices placed on1/29/24 at 9 am. The patient discharged home after surgery. The patient readmitted the same day on 1/29/24 at 8:00 PM. This second hospital admission met criteria to be in the denominator for VTE-1. Could we use the Intermittent Pneumatic Compression device that were placed during the first hospital visit ( 1/29/24 at 9:00 AM) to meet the measure for the second hospital admission with patient arrival 1/29/24 at 8:00 PM? Thank you
