Thank you for your question about CMS1028/PC-07 Severe Obstetric Complications.

The risk variables considered for this measure are clinically relevant patient-level factors. The patient-level risk variables in the numerator that are present on admission (POA), have a strong relationships with the measure's outcome. Risk associated variable conditions and/or lab/physical exam results that are present on admission put patients at risk for severe obstetric complications. We expect to see patients in the numerator with one or more of these risk variables. Risk-adjusted scores will be reported for this measure for better comparisons in the analysis of measure results. For more information, please reference the Severe Obstetric Complications Methodology Report posted on the eCQI Resource Center.

If a patient has multiple risk variables assigned, do all of them have to have POA to be excluded from numerator ?

example[le Patient with assigned risk variables of asthma POA, previous c section POA and lab and physical exam risk variable NOT POA is showing in numerator

Medical logic would seem to say that any one risk variable POA would exclude patient from numerator as risk variables are not weighted as to which ones are "more important"
