Thank you for your question about CMS334/PC-02 Cesarean Birth. As opposed to prior pregnancies (gravidity), the focus of this measure is on nulliparous women, looking for a first-time delivery which is defined documentation of a birth >= 20 weeks gestation regardless of the outcome (e.g., parity > 0) prior to the current hospitalization. With that said, for the examples provided:

Gravida =2 with Parity 0: This would be counted in the denominator. The next step would be to consider if there is a denominator exclusion.
Gravidity 2 Parity 1: This would not be counted in the denominator and therefore cannot be in the numerator.

    • Seeking clarification on how numerator population criteria requirements.

The PC-02 numerator measure workflow states "Singleton Delivery Encounters at 37 plus weeks Gravida 1 Parity 0 no previous births". Can you confirm that scenerios of Gravida =2 with Parity 0 or Gravidity 2 Parity 1 should be excluded entirely or only a part of denominator and not the numerator. Kindly clarify.
