If a EHR vendor is not able to implement the one specific RxNorm code provided in the test data please verify that it is acceptable to substitute another legal RxNorm code or if a translation is required, please explain the process involved.
It should not be assumed that all prescribable RxNorm codes are supported by the EHRs Medication Vendor. Limiting the options to a single code, even if it is a prescribable RxNorm code, increases the possibility of EHR systems being unable to report the required event and is an artificial constraint placed on vendors that is specific to certification. Reporting any RxNorm code included in a particular value set should be acceptable and can be validated with the appropriate value set OID.
