Thank you for your questions on CMS108, Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis. For question one: Antiembolism devices could be sequential compression devices (SCDs), foot pumps, or compression stockings. "On Anti-embolism intervention" implies that mechanical prophylaxis was applied and 'bilateral' means that they were applied / administered to both legs.

For question two: Yes, "mechanical antiembolism prophylaxis devices applied" would pass the measure, assuming it happened during the qualifying time frame. For VTE-1 measure, the qualifying time frame is " From Day of Start of Hospitalization To Day After Admission or Procedure".

    • Question if vte prophylaxis measure should be denominator category or not.

Hi, I have TWO questions here:

        • ONE: Under "mobility" our nursing documentation form has two options "antiembolism devices" to which the nurse response was documented as "bilateral".

The next line in the form has the option as "Anit-embolism intervention" to which the nurse response was documented "On"

Is this acceptable for mechanical prophylaxis applied?

        • TWO: Separately, if documentation states, "mechanical antiembolism prophylaxis devices applied" would that pass the measure?

      Thanks very much.
